Macallan wanted ‘the most luxurious website in the world’ which as a designer is a perfect brief especially when backed up with beautiful imagery and a desire to move away from traditional whisky style websites.
I used a combination of subtle textures, very clean, simple shots and crops of the bottles and a mix of more classical typography, with the Macallan ident, to a much more modern typographical approach to the often very dull and confusing whisky notes that accompany each bottle.
The homepage gives a subtle nod to the slightly tapered shape of the classic Macallan bottles whilst providing a very prominent campaign/promotion space and quick access into The Product or The Story which provides users with a very unique insight into Macallan’s history and the process of making its whisky.
